Dorothy Must Die - a catching title for a book, isn't it? This and the gorgeous cover might be reasons for it being hyped the way it is. But unlike with other hyped books, the story, the characters and the world of Oz which became dark and cruel, are really good!
Dorothy came back and got mad. She's no longer the sweet little girl, but more a bitchy and terrible leader of the world of Oz with all its inhabitants being afraid of her. So there are the wicked witches who try to save the world and just what they need comes falling from the sky, just as it happened once already - and there are more parallels: our heroine, Amy, also lived in Kansas, was poor, and came to Oz with the help of a tornado. She's destined to save Oz from Dorothy...and the author does a good job keeping the story thrilling, but at the same time amusing. I didn't like the original Oz books, only the wonderful world, but this book combines the (now dark) wonders of Oz with a writing style I adored. And the narrator of the audiobook did just as good a job, too!
